OFFICIAL RULES

 

 

Ø                        Current California Fish & Game Rules and Regulations apply.  Each participant (not observer) is responsible for knowing and abiding by these rules.
 

 

Ø                        Maximum of 4 persons per team – two boats may be used. 

 

 

 

Ø                        Each team will be assigned an observer – all fishermen on the team must be in sight of their perspective observer at all times, and not more than 100 yds. apart.

 

 

 

Ø                        Fishing from the shore is permissible. 

 

 

 

Ø                        All team members must sign in at Kittle’s prior to fishing.  Sign in starts at 5:00am.  Lines in the water no earlier than 6:00am.  All boats will have a live well check by the observer just prior to fishing. 

 

 

 

Ø                        Weigh in is at 3:30pm sharp!!– no exceptions. All fish and or catch information, the team captain and the observer must be present at Kittle’s parking lot no later than 3:30pm. 

 

 

 

Ø                        Fishing boundaries are from the Princeton Ferry south to Howells Landing ( Colusa County ) on the Sacramento River . 

 

 

 

Ø                        Total weight for the team’s top eight fish will determine placement.  Catch and release is encouraged.  Ties or discrepancies will be reconciled by the judges.

 

 

 

Ø                        Observers will measure, calculate and take a photo of fish for release.  If a hen is brought to the weigh-in, there will be a 1 lb. deduction for each hen after the following formula is applied.  The calculation below will be used to measure the weight of ALL fish. 

 

 

 

-        the official formula to determine weight will be:

 

 length X girth X girth/800 = official weight

 

 

 

 Length = measurement from lower jaw to fork in tail

 

 

 

 Girth = circumference (wrap tape completely around) at widest part of the body

 

 

 

 Example:

 

 L= 23” from lower jaw to fork in tail

 

 G=17” around widest part of body

 

 

 

 23 x 17 x 17 / 800 = 8.30 lbs.

 

 

 

·     Observers are not allowed to fish

 

·     All contestants must be signed up and paid by 4/5/08

  

 

·     Boats may be launched prior to sign in

 

·     All team members must personally sign in

 

·     $800.00 entry fee per 4 person team

 

·     1st place collects 60% of the purse

 

·     2nd place collects 10% of the purse or entry back

 

·     BIG FISH collects $500.00

 

·     3rd and 4th Kittle’s Gift Cards

 

·     5% donated to California Striped Bass Association

 

·     5% donated to Colusa Boat Launch Fund
